What this is
Colombia Mining Daily is a free, bilingual news feed covering mining in Colombia. Every half hour it gathers the day's stories on gold and copper projects, the companies developing them, the National Mining Agency (ANM) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, small-scale mining formalization, illegal mining and security, and the gold and peso markets.
Most Colombian mining news is published only in Spanish, and most international mining coverage only in English. This site puts both in one place and makes every story readable in either language.

We monitor about 60 sources: Colombian national and regional newspapers and radio (El Tiempo, La República, Portafolio, Semana, Infobae Colombia, El Colombiano, Vanguardia, El Universal, La Patria, El Heraldo, Caracol Radio and others), mining trade publications (Minería en Línea, Minería Pan-Americana, The Northern Miner, BNamericas, MINING.COM), company press-release wires (PR Newswire, Newsfile, Newswire.ca, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire), investigative and environmental outlets (InSight Crime, Mongabay Latam, Verdad Abierta), the press rooms of the ANM and MinEnergía, and targeted news searches for each mining region: Antioquia, Sur de Bolívar, Caldas, Chocó, Santander and Cauca, Nariño and Tolima.
How stories are selected
Each story must be about mining and about Colombia. General-news outlets are filtered to mining headlines; regional-mining searches are checked for a Colombian connection so that stories about Venezuela's Bolívar state or Peruvian mines are excluded. When several outlets run the same story it appears once, with a count of how many outlets reported it. Stories are then sorted into five topics: Policy & Regulation, Companies & Deals, Artisanal & Formalization, Security & Community, and Markets.
Translation
Headlines and short summaries are machine-translated into the other language by an AI model and are marked as translated. The original is always one click away. We do not reproduce full articles: every headline links to the original publisher.
